If you go to Japan and visit a Japan's shrine, don't forget to rinse your body before entering the shrine on the following customs: 1) to use a dipper with your left hand to wash your right one, 2) to use a dipper with your right hand to wash your left one, 3) to pour water dipped by a dipper onto your hand and wash your mouth and 4) to hold a dipper upright to let the remaining water flow down to wash its handle.
